The No Fail Way to Style a Bar Cart

Way to Style a Bar Cart

We house our bar cart smack dab in the middle of the living room because we don’t have another option space wise other than our master bedroom.  That might come across as TOO weird to guests and not having a bar cart is well, not an option over here.

No matter where you house your bar cart, there’s a pretty simple formula to styling it out that you can go by or not.  This “formula” is for those who want a pretty bar cart but when they go to style it, they end up wanting to throw the cart out the window out of frustration.

Way to Style a Bar Cart

I came up with this no fail way to style a bar cart formula to avoid getting overwhelmed when styling out a bar cart.  You obviously need the essential items – a bar cart, alcohol and glassware.  From there I recommend adding at least one item from each “optional” row.

And a few ways that I’ve incorporated some of the above items in my own bar cart.

I recently learned of Mintwood Home and I kid you not, found myself wanting every single item from the shop.  Even better, the founder of the shop, Heloise, is a true gem.  Her story is incredible and so inspiring – She was attending grad school for Education, and the Washington Post approached her about doing a story on her rental basement apartment, which she transformed into a lovely, budget friendly space.  Soon after the story ran, she decided not to pursue Education and started working for a design firm in DC.  Those kinds of stories are what draws me in as I love supporting small businesses owners that hustle and are so clearly passionate about what they do.  Heloise is the real deal and she has incredible taste, and her online home decor shop is proof.  After working at the design firm, Heloise obviously had a love for interior design but found herself being frustrated at how exclusive the industry is.  She started Mintwood Home as a way to simplify the interior design process and make great design more accessible.

…….Are you hooked? Because I’m helping to spread the word about Mintwood Home, I asked Heloise if she would be willing to host a giveaway today for all of you.  She graciously agreed to give away a $100 credit to the shop, and you can enter below.

  1. I had never heard of Mintwood before… so happy you shared them with us! And as always, your photography is beautiful!

  2. I am really in love with the booze decanter! Thank you so much for giving me the perfect father’s day gift! I am going to order it right now. Also, it is so inspiring to learn of others trying to follow their dream. Thank you, thank you, and thank you!

  3. I’ve been working on my “bar cart” recently, but because I own about 20 + decanters I’m finding that it’s leaning more in the direction of a collection than the more modern take on a cute, little cart. 😉 I can’t wait to start layering in the accessories though! As always, thanks for the inspiration, Claire!

  4. I love the titles of your posts- practical! It’s how I first found your blog. And my bar cart was struggling but thanks for the tips! It’s going to look sharp for the summer now 🙂

  5. She does have some great things in her shop! I’ve been on the hunt for a new coffee table for my living room, and I love to support small business owners who are on their grind 🙂

  6. I don’t think a bar cart in the middle of the room is so bad. I’ve seen it done and if you position it right it looks great. The think about a bar cart is not to get it too cluttered and have adequate space for storing the things you do have on it. Love the ideas above 🙂
