Guest Room

A “quick fix” might not be the best option for every space, but sometimes it is.  It was a good option for our guest room that once looked like this.

guest room before

I loathed that storage unit because it definitely wasn’t a bedroom. The worst part?  I had to work in there every day.

We now have a functional and pretty space for our guests thanks to the One Room Challenge hosted by Linda from Calling it Home.  While I probably wouldn’t (actually I know I wouldn’t) have the same space if I would have taken my time with each decision, the One Room Challenge (a 6 week room makeover challenge)  was the best option for this space because it wouldn’t have been touched otherwise. I needed that push and motivation to get it done, and I’m so glad Linda offered it.  I highly recommend the One Room Challenge to you if you need that extra push too!  You don’t have to have a blog to participate!

Without further ado, here is our new guest room.

  1. Claire, it looks smashing! I love the blush chair with the greens and brass. I have a guest room/ office space that is… undercooked at best and definitely feeling the need for a push at the moment. Love what you did with this challenge!

  2. GAH! i love this bedroom! please come make over mine. it needs help. I have the case of bed-regret (where I regret buying the bed frame I did, ugh). I love your use of greens and natural tones, and textures!!

  3. Ahhh! Stunning! I just love this color combo! The nighstand turned out great – to answer your question, I haven’t painted my dresser yet, but this is definitely shoving me in that direction! Lovely, Claire!

  4. Those greens! Ohhhh yes please. I have a real thing for olive-y colours and this room is just utterly fab. I adore the painted ceiling as well and the light fitting and that HEADBOARD. OMG. Gorgeous job! xxx

  5. Oh Claire….Claire…..this room. Yes….I am such a fan of yours. Can we start with the headboard because I die. I love the vintage colors accented with the dark teal. That light fixture…..the art….it all works so beautifully together. When you are famous I can definitely tell people….”I remember when……”!

  6. This room is so beautiful my jaw dropped. That ceiling! Those drapes and velvet bed. Truly truly gorgeous!!

  7. Um can I please be the first guest!!! Loving every bit! Lucent kicked butt with that light and love the bed, desk setup, rug, ceiling…it ALL!

  8. I am so proud of you!! The lush shades and tints of green are amazing! I love the way you used texture is in various spots! Grandmother Cumbie would be so excited to see her guest bed in your guest room!! So excited for our next visit:))

  9. Hi Claire! I’m so glad I found your blog via the One Room Challenge. I love your aesthetic and we share the same love for midcentury 🙂 Your transformation is no word of a lie one of my favourites!!! I’m in love with that sitting area 🙂
