Every month Jennifer from Dimples & Tangles, Kris from Driven by Decor, Lisa from Shine Your Light, and Pam from Simple Details host this great series called “My Five Favorites”, where they share their five favorite [fill in the blank]. This week they asked me to guest host and share my favorite ways to mix metals. There are few metals that I don’t like, but when going through projects to really study the metal combinations that I most use, I noticed 3 metals over and over again in every way possible. Brass, black and bronze are the only metals that I could find within my projects, but I will say that I’ve found every combination of those 3 metals.
MY FAVORITE WAYS TO MIX METALS
1. Bronze & Antique Brass:
chandelier | wallpaper | mirror | crib | bedding | throw pillow| jute rug | hide rug
In this sweet nursery we mixed bronze through the chandelier and antique gold through the mirror and a few other details.
2. Shiny Brass & Aged Brass
I styled this lavender shoot way back when with a friend and it ended up being featured on Style Me Pretty. I love the simplicity of the aged brass candlesticks – some are shiny brass and some are aged, but they all seem to go together in an organic way.
3. Black & Brass
sofa | rug | media console | art | green pillow |buffalo check pillow | zig zag pillow | floor lamp |baskets | rattan stool | curtains | gold table lamp
I mixed matte black and brass through the lighting in this modern tv room makeover.
4. Black & Bronze
marble tile | mirror | wall sconces | fireplace screen | Black and white circles art | Lines art | Ink art | Lady art | succulents
This classic, neutral rich living room was one big mix of layered neutrals. I used lots black + bronze (with lots of texture) to keep it interesting.
5. Shiny Brass & Bronze
Our master bedroom has a fun mix of shiny brass and bronze. I love this mix because it not only mixes metal finishes but crosses over styles as well…
