We hit the one year mark of being in this house and finally gave the outdoor space the attention it deserved. I’ve been rambling on and on about this patio makeover – what I thought I wanted, what I thought I didn’t want, and who knows what I really wanted, but Parker and I got down to business this weekend and crossed this project off of our list. We are both so happy with it and excited to put it to use!
Remember this sad little patio?
Well, he got a facelift.
At one point I told you how our outdoor space is very intentionally overgrown, and we were asked to maintain this overgrown look by the landlord…… Overgrown is not my look of choice; I like something that is very manicured, but I thought I was stuck with an outdoor space that continued on that overgrown look. I decided I didn’t have to be stuck with that for the patio space even if the rest of the yard reflected it.
I found these amazing turf rugs at At Home (how genius are turf rugs???). I can’t find them online, but I’ve been to three different At Homes in the Austin area and all three stores had the turf rugs. The rug is 5×7, which worked perfectly for us because the patio is exactly 7′ wide. We didn’t have to cut any except for the stairs. I love how clean and manicured the turf looks.
I saw this outdoor dining table used in the HGTV Spring House and loved it. My design plan changed 15 times, but this dining table was the only thing that didn’t change. It has been raining nonstop here in Austin, and the dining table has held up great.
The white chairs are also from At Home. I was drawn to them because they feel a bit retro. I knew I would use my Goodwill chairs on the ends, so I wanted something clean and simple.
For the covered part, I used my existing chairs and then added some stools and accessories. That mirror from At Home changed everything. I found it on clearance a few days ago and used it to define the style of that space. The small blue and white pillows, matching garden stools and white side table are all from At Home as well.
How is your outdoor space looking? A good friend is coming to visit tomorrow, and I’m so excited to use the space for the first time!
